Contemporary Portrait Photography
Over the last few years I’ve worked with a few clients creating wall collections and/or pieces from our session to display. This winter I put together a guide for this exact purpose. One unique feature with these wall guide templates is being able to insert photos from our session to create different combinations so we can see how things will look on the wall. Here’s a few examples to help explain further…..

This is the first of series of photo shoots with Little Naomi this April. Here she is with her pal Hudson and Mom and Dad. I love these shots. Pregnancy is relatively short in the grand scheme of things – so a portrait or two to commemorate this is time well spent. One last look at this family before they add a new member ……….
Last year, around this time, I did a photo shoot for Pick Ontario at the Watering Can in Vineland. We took a variety of images with a number of models. The result was several images that Pick Ontario have since used for promotional pieces since our shoot. A large part of my photography work consists of ‘commercial photography’. This winter I spent part of a day with a few (terrific) models and the staff of the Spa Boutique, creating imagery that would really capture the look and feel of the spa. I must say I’m impressed with the transformation the space has taken and the serenity and relaxation the spa (and even products and staff) evoke!
Due to the nature of commercial work, I can only release images that have been released to the public.. but we created a large variety of scenarios for the The Spa Boutique to use for advertising and promotional work.

This past winter I (finally) had a chance to create a office workspace that I truly loved!
The ‘before’ picture makes me wish I had done this a whole lot sooner. The later suits me so much better!

So this is my ‘digital darkroom’ – where I love to work and look at pictures of my smiling clients. I smile back at my monitors all day long…..

Marike is the second of the two special girls born in February. Marike has a big sister (the oldest) followed by FOUR brothers. She will also have the distinction of being the youngest in the family and being ‘the baby’ for the rest of her life I love the portrait of Marike with her mom and sister – it looks as though Marike is beaming along with them!
Such a blessing for me to photograph your family again on such celebratory occasion! God is good
February 2012 welcomed two very special little girls. This is Lia. She is a wonderful surprise for her parents and siblings. Lia is beautiful in every way, along with the family she was blessed with. Lia looks like a doll you might pick up at the Toy store with this hand knit outfit. So precious!
There are 3 great (crucial even) times to photograph children – newborn, when they are sitting and when they are walking. Baby Claire easily sits unsupported but still doesn’t crawl – so it’s an ideal time for a baby shoot! One of my friends once told me that this stage was her favourite – they are at peak ‘baby-ness’ – chubby legs, chubby cheeks and full of smiles. Claire is so ideal to shoot – I came back to shoot her in the orchard, but that’s another post
Janice & Mikes engagement session was easily the longest I’ve ever hard…. but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We changed locations due to weather conditions and inserted a drink and bite to eat at the Irish Pub in Niagara on the Lake to warm up. It was great spending time with these two and getting to know them. Looking forward to the August wedding!!
Love this last image – it will always remind me of Mike playing and them both singing at the end of our shoot. That was the best! Thanks for that memory you two! (and love the slippers )
Welcome to the 1st day of 10 days – 10 posts. I’ve started polishing the website and dusting off the blog here and I’m ready to start sharing some of my sessions from these past months among other things.
