Aspen – 8 days fresh

Shortly after I arrived at this session, we got a little home tour. In big sisters room were her newborn photos (taken by me) and it struck me how I could easily tell in her newborn photos that it was her. It was also evident to me how her new little sister Aspen doesn’t look anything like her as newborn. Long before I had my own children, I thought newborns all looked the same – like little monkeys LOL – but after maturing (just a tiny bit) I now clearly see how each and every new baby is so unique. Aspen is no different. Each child of God is so special and such a blessing and gift. The plan God has for her life is that of no other human being. He has carefully chosen her eye colour, bone structure, personality – everything all ready in place. Amazing. I think this every single time I see, hold and/or shoot a newborn.

Do you find I’m getting a little ‘preachy’ with my blog post? Well I can’t help myself, Aspen is the newest addition to my “preachers” family! Pastor Roeda is the youth pastor at my Church. I need to stay on his good books

Oh one more thing that is very unique to Aspen. Her Grandma crocheted her pink hat and diaper cover! How wonderful is that??!

Logan – 10 days

I really enjoy going back to see past clients again (I really do!). So fun to see how the kids have grown (and how their portraits from our last session are being hung in their home!). This family is no exception. I was back almost two years to the day to shoot the newest edition, Logan.

A beautiful girl for one of my favourite wedding vendors! Angelica at Simply Beautiful Decor and her family were blessed with this sweet baby girl. I was blessed with a easy baby and big smile at this session! Sienna was easy going and settled in nicely for her first photo shoot. Here are a few favourites from our time together.

Emma – 6 days

Emma is pretty special; not only is she the firstborn for her (happy and proud) parents, but Emma also holds a title of the first grandchild (to my 2nd cousin) and first great grandchild to my Aunt (once removed). So I’m related to Emma, 2nd cousin twice removed, or 3rd cousin once removed or something complicated. It hardly matters, she’s here, healthy and perfect and is in the loving arms of parents, family and a community that will care for her the rest of her life. So whose blessed?

I had the privilege of shooting yet another newborn girl recently. Whether it’s the first child for parents or the 6th, the pride and joy when when holding a new child is never diminished by birth order. That’s kinda neat. Here’s Ava, a welcome addition to this lovely family.

Megan – 6 days

This newest family addition was such a sweetheart to shoot. I arrived and Dad handed her to me sound asleep, and hour or so later she was handed back to him exactly the same way. It’s a wonder she slept at all actually, with her older siblings buzzing about. They were pretty interested in what I was doing with their new sister! Megan’s brothers and sister are as much in love with Megan as her parents. Blessing abound at this home……

The perfect newborn to photograph, completely content and very sleepy. I didn’t hear a single peep from him during our entire session. I can tell you that all bowel and urinary functions are working very well – I have the blankets and shirt to prove it! LOL. I don’t mind though, (I expected even) because the end result is a perfect moment captured of a perfect new son. As a bonus, two amazing older siblings who didn’t mind me or my camera one bit. They were every bit as much of a pleasure to shoot as their new brother.

My first newborn photoshoot of 2011! This handsome little man made his entrance into the world at 10lbs 6oz! I do believe this weight make him my biggest newborn to date (although I still have to double check with E.V. to see what her son weighed). His older brother was a complete doll and very well behaved therefore making my visit even more enjoyable. Mom thanked me for being patient but honestly, I want to thank this family for being patient with me! I roll in with lots of gear, make a big mess and talk a lot … so thank YOU for being patient with me. And now a few of my favourite images;

It’s a boy! Born at home, all 9lbs and 2ozs of him and he’s gorgeous! Congratulations you two, enjoy your first Christmas together.
