Contemporary Portrait Photography
A summer session with four friends – fun right? Although it was fun, and the girls were sweethearts, there was a solemn undertone on our evening of sadness. One of the girls is moving with her family around the world and it was their last night with her before her flight out. These girls had many fun memories this past year together in high school. I was happy capture their last time together and make some lasting memories with these lovely (photogenic) friends.
My daughter Amanda was invited by friends to join them for their school banquet. The weather was COLD, incredibly windy and honestly – just not good for a photo shoot! We managed a few shots (and warmed up in the van in between) and I’m glad they turned out so well.

One of the best photography related ideas I’ve heard in a while came from this teen (who also happens to be one of my favourite assistants daughter)… a Sweet sixteen photo shoot! It was fun having only one subject to shoot and to play with so many props. Many of my photography friends do brisk business in the Senior teen market (in the US) – if only that would fly here! I’ve really loved the images I’ve done this year with the High School kids. Imagine having portraits like this to look back on down the road….

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting a few grade 12 Grads. Had a great time and was able to play with some new gear and try some new things. You will note these images are very ‘processed’, lots of photo-shopping and textures with these images but I love the results we got! Thanks Grads for your patience and being good sports and …

Disregard the Eleventh grader in the center!
My two oldest daughters had a great time at their spring banquet last week. Highschool is flying by (like the rest of life) so I love that they let me shoot them and their friends (plus one boyfriend) so we can capture the memories. The blonde girls are my Marita and Amanda.
This past spring I did a fair amount of shooting at Smithville District Christian High School (here’s the original blog post) capturing student life (and other things) for the website that was being designed over the summer. The new website is complete and it looks great! Check it out here; SDCH
In addition I took some promotional images for a billboard that SDCH was doing with John Knox Christian School and Covenant Christian School – better known as NACE. If you’re on Ontario Street in Beamville, make sure you look for this billboard (it’s hard to miss!).
I’ve been shooting at Smithville Christian High over the last few weeks taking images for their promotional material. I’ve had the pleasure of capturing Boys Soccer, the cast of the drama production (The Mouse that Roared), Chapel, Creative Arts evening, the Community Choir as well as regular student life. I’d like to tell you that it makes me feel like a teen again – but nope. I have enjoyed it though!
